The Madrid Metro consists of thirteen metro lines. It has been in operation for over a hundred years since its creation in 1919.
The Madrid metropolitan subway network spans over 284 km of tracks. You can travel on the first metro from 6:00 AM or enter the last metro at 2:00 AM.
Metro ticket prices
The metro ticket price is quite unique. The metro ticket price is €2, but you can buy your ticket for €1.15 if you travel less than 5 metro stations. And you can also add 10 cents for each additional station. You can purchase tickets valid for the Madrid metro and tram for €3.
For 10 single-trip tickets, you will need to pay €12.20. You can get 10-ticket booklets for €18.30 for your combined trips (Metro, tram, bus). Note that the transport ticket to the airport via the Madrid metro can cost up to €5.

Madrid Metro Line 1 extends from Pinar de Chamartín to Valdecarros. This metro line covers more than 23 km of tracks with 33 stops. Line 1 of the metro crosses the city from north to southeast.
