Brussels subway map is a diagram showing the lines and stations of the Brussels subway.

More information about the Brussels metro

The Brussels metro consists of six metro lines, two of which are more like trams. The metro lines are paired as follows:

  • Line 1 runs parallel to Line 5
  • Line 2 with Brussels metro Line 6
  • Line 3 is close to Line 4

The metro stations open at 6 am and close at 11 pm. Some lines may have slightly different schedules. So, be cautious not to be caught by time if you are dining out. The STIB company manages the entire metro network. The metro of our Belgian friends is a real art gallery; you can spend time admiring the numerous art exhibitions. Indeed, the metro is an art gallery in itself. Traveling on the metro is an artistic tour and an experience to have if you visit Brussels.

Tickets are valid for all public transportation in the city of Brussels (metro, bus, tram). They are valid for one hour after validating your ticket. You can use other metro lines or other modes of transportation during this time.

    Transport card or ticket:
  • Single trip: €2.10
  • Round trip ticket: €4.20
  • 5 single trips: €8
  • 10 single trips: €14

There is a subscription to use all public transportation. The daily pass costs €7.50. Tickets can be purchased at stations or from bus drivers, but an additional fee will be charged.

Line 1 Stockel - West Station

It connects West Station and Stockel. Line 1 consists of 20 stations, serving the municipalities of Molenbeek, Brussels, Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, and Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. The frequency of metro trains varies from 5 minutes during peak hours. There are many connections with bus lines. Each station on Line 1 has a connection with a tram or bus.

Line 2 ELISABETH - SIMONIS

Line 2 is circular and follows the inner-city belt of Brussels. It passes through 6 suburbs out of the 19 that make up the capital, namely:

  • Koekelberg
  • Molenbeek
  • Anderlecht
  • Saint-Gilles
  • Saint-Josse-ten-Noode
  • Ixelles

Line 2 consists of 23 trains with 5 cars each in operation on Lines 2 and 6. The upper part is also called Simonis, and the lower part is called Elizabeth. In 1970, the tram line was extended, and then in 1974 and 1985, new works were carried out to give rise to the metro line we know today. Note that the Elizabeth and Simonis stations are in the same location; only the floor is different.

Line 3 Bordet and Albert

Line 3 aims to relieve congested lines. It allows you to travel from Bordet to Albert in just 20 minutes. The metro line consists of 18 stations on more than 10km of track, passing through 5 municipalities.
